We ARE Los Angeles' cannabis community.  On November 5, 2019, TEDx Speaker, Cannabis Entrepreneur and High Times 100 Most Influential Honoree- Rico Tarver will be hosting another night of his unique, live infomercial-style events with amazing speakers plus a great networking community. November's CannaGather LA will be all about the medical and science-backed side of our industry. Tikun Olam's very own Dr. Daniel Price and CEO, Galen Williams will both be joining Rico on stage for November covering a variety of topics including patented cannabinoid science, Tikun's leadership in the realm of plant-based medicine, and their plans for the US market.  Galen has over 20 years of experience leading and advising new ventures and startups. Prior to Tikun Olam, Galen was Managing Partner for Green Delta Ventures, an M&A advisory firm serving the Cannabis industry. Galen also co-founded and served as CEO of Skyy Greens, a venture-backed hydroponic farm- the first in Chicago, IL. Prior to that, Galen was in Morgan Stanley's Global Wealth Management group where he worked exclusively with entrepreneurs and angel investors' alternative financing needs. Galen also co-founded and served as the first Executive Director for Chicago based Hyde Park Angels, one of the Midwest's largest angel investment groups. Dr. Dan trained in emergency medicine at the University of California Davis and did a fellowship in air medical transport and trauma at Oregon Health & Science University. He worked as an academic physician at AHS Highland Hospital & Trauma Center in Oakland for 14 years and has authored over 40 scholarly publications. Dr Price's work focused on the use of portable ultrasound in emergencies and in under-resourced settings in Africa, Latin America and Asia. He also helped found Mobile Medical Media LLC which developed medical education resources for mobile devices. Dr Price's interest in medical cannabis arose from his own experience with back pain and from seeing patients in the ER who could’ve been safely helped by medical cannabis but instead were only prescribed pharmaceutical medications often with limited efficacy and potentially severe side effects. He helped pioneer “house call” and telemedicine cannabis consultations with MeadowMD in San Francisco where he has treated over 15,000 patients. He recently joined Tikun Olam as Medical Director to help advance the science of medical cannabis. Tikun Olam was formed in the heart of Israel, as a philanthropic organization on a mission to “Repair the World” through cannabis. In 2002, our founder, Tzachi Cohen, began cultivating the plant and providing the medicine to those suffering in Galilee – cancer fighters, recovering opiate addicts, and veterans with PTSD. With the help of a team of volunteers, including Cohen’s dear mother, a supportive community developed where patients found camaraderie in advocacy and the search for relief. Thus, the legacy of Tikun Olam was born.  In 2005, after petitioning the Israeli Ministry of Health, our fate as pioneers in medical cannabis was set when Tikun Olam was granted the world’s first governmental license to produce and distribute cannabis through the healthcare system. Partnering with hospitals and nursing homes, Tikun Olam emerged as the flagship caregiver for thousands of people, providing personalized cannabis treatment plans and tracking which strains provided the most benefit for varying conditions. Their dedication to patient care and continual research became critical components of the Tikun ethos – and paved the way for what has now grown into a global wellness operation, providing plant-based relief across the world.
