Wednesday Speakers Series - The Case for Legalizing Marijuana

The Rockingham County Democrats have opened a new office, and have just started a weekly speakers series about a variety of topics in the political, policy, and civic world. On April 12th, Steve will speak and take Q&A on the topic of legalizing marijuana in New Hampshire. As the only major candidate for Governor in 2016 in either party to support legalization, Steve regularly made the argument that the full adult legalization, regulation, and taxation of marijuana would provide many benefits to the state and its residents, including reducing opiate addiction; lowering costs in law enforcement, judicial and incarcaration; and raising significant revenue that could be used to strengthen education, infrastructure, and our culutre of entrepreneurship. With ME and MA approving legalizaition last November, and VT and Canada poised to do so shortly, we will soon be the surrounded by legalization. Almost two-thirds of New Hampshirities favor legalization, as well.
