The event is 21+ and a celebration of the local innovation and advances made thus far in the cannabis industry in Massachusetts, and a reminder of the continued advocacy that the industry requires. Together with sponsors Weedmaps, Dirty Water Glass Company, Canna Care Docs of Massachusetts, CannaKorp, MassCann/NORML, MCRLabs, Wicked Chronic, The Healing Rose, Women Grow: Boston, E-Cig Barn Vape Shop, BloomBoss Grow Lights, and ProVerde Laboratories, Inc.. NIC has created an event that offers something for everyone. The event features live demos of the CannaCloud vaporization system by CannaKorp, the Nova decarboxylator by Ardent, and glass blowing by craftsman Josh Mohawk Pisco, a custom cake by Brooke's Baked Cakes, and a silent art auction to raise funds for LEAF, NIC’s women’s community outreach group. Our raffle will go to the @Massachusetts Recreational Consumer Council to help ensure the safety of recreational marijuana consumers by bridging the gaps between communities, local legislators, and Massachusetts businesses. In support of our non-profits who advocate for patients improving quality of life through cannabis and alternative health we welcome Massachusetts Patient Advocacy Alliance and Bulldozer Health Inc. who are pillars for patient needs. “Massachusetts leads the way in innovation and education, values that drive the Massachusetts cannabis industry,” explained NIC Dean of Faculty, Cara Crabb-Burnham. “It’s time to celebrate and reflect on how far our community has come and where we want to go as we strive for equality and opportunity in the cannabis industry.” Massachusetts voters took a step forward for communities affected by cannabis prohibition, including those incarcerated or otherwise victimized by the War on Drugs, when they voted to pass Question 4 in November 2016. Question 4 language directly addressed this issue, with first-of-its-king language drafted specifically to provide opportunity for equitable ownership and participation by those victims in this industry. “We are not only a community of labels and stereotypes, we are a community that is going to change the world.” Ms. Crabb-Burnham added. The 420 independence Gala takes place on Thursday, April 20 at the Natick Elk’s Lodge, 95 Speen Street in Natick, from 6:00 – 10:00 PM. Public and media are invited to attend.
