It has not been scheduled yet, but will almost definitely be one more public hearing on marijuana legalization this legislative session. HB 6518 has been referred to the Appropriations Committee, whose members include many supporters of reform. The rules require 5 days' notice before a hearing takes place, so as of this update (on 4/10) the soonest it could be is 4/17. Public hearings cannot take place after 4/27, so it must also be before then. We will keep this event, and our website, updated as we learn more about the exact timing of this hearing. ORAL TESTIMONY: If you plan to testify, we encourage you to dress professionally, and to practice your testimony to ensure it fits within the 3 minutes you are allowed. We will be hosting a training for advocates over Google Hangouts sometime before the hearing, stay tuned for details. WRITTEN TESTIMONY: Whether or not you are there in person, you can still submit written testimony supporting the bill. We highly recommend customizing this for reading — including cited sources, links to more information, charts, graphs, and other helpful visuals — rather than just writing down your oral testimony. Our team is happy to review and edit written testimony if you would like any help. As we await details on this hearing, the most helpful thing you can do is contact your representative & senator to ask for their support! Our handy online tool will connect you with their offices: https://www.regulatect.org/get-involved/contact-your-state-lawmakers/ THANK YOU to all of the advocates putting in great work!
