JOIN NORML AND SUPPORTERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ON 4/20 AND DEMAND YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS SUPPORT ENDING MARIJUANA PROHIBITION! Sign up for the Thunderclap here: https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/55788-4-20-online-day-of-action On April 20th, marijuana consumers and advocates will gather around the world to show their support for ending cannabis prohibition. These celebratory gatherings seek to bring awareness to marijuana’s proven medicinal benefits, its hundreds of industrial uses, and the obvious need to end the mass arrest, stigmatization, and incarceration of nonviolent marijuana consumers. While these public events are often effective at generating earned media and raising public awareness, they rarely influence or appeal to those elected officials who continue to oppose common sense marijuana reforms. In an effort to increase the political effectiveness of these events, this year NORML is organizing the NORML Take Action Campaign; a grassroots effort that will combine a robust presence on social media and a call-to-action targeting federal lawmakers. Through this effort, we hope raise awareness and support for the growing number of marijuana reform bills pending before House and Senate lawmakers. Make sure your friends and networks contact their members of Congress to tell them to end federal prohibition by signing up for the Thunderclap: https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/55788-4-20-online-day-of-action As part of this effort, NORML is organizing a ‘Faces of Marijuana Prohibition’ event on Capitol Hill on April 19, where lawmakers and their staff will hear first-hand from those most adversely impacted by cannabis criminalization. In additional, NORML affiliates and chapters from around the country are planning to participate in local volunteer efforts to raise awareness around the failures of prohibition and the benefits of legalization.
