Description This course will discuss the passage of Proposition 64 (Adult Use of Marijuana Act), the changes to the Health and Safety Code and potential strategies for law enforcement. The class will also touch on the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act. Students will be provided an update on issues pertaining to Proposition 215 and Senate Bill 420. Recent court decisions highly recommend that officers have specific training in these laws to qualify as an expert when arresting person(s) in possession of marijuana and are claiming the protections under Proposition 215. This course will also cover Butane Hash Oil investigations and BHO explosions. Prosecuting Lab Cases, to include the basics needed for successful prosecution of any lab case, including butane hash oil labs. It provides an overview of the applicable criminal statutes, discussions regarding evidence collection, search warrant language, and other topics.
