Amy Friedl Stoner - "Dreamchaser"

Following in the footsteps of Amy Friedl Stoner's triumphant debut of this show at the Metropolitan Room in New York City this past March, "Dreamchaser" is a look at life - with the love of music leading the way - through the songs of Billy Joel, Cole Porter, Jason Robert Brown and more. Music director - Rick Jensen, Director - Lina Koutrakos. Produced by Mariposa Artists ******************************************************* http://www.amysings.com/ Amy Friedl Stoner is an accomplished and versatile soprano based in the Midwest. A frequent leading lady, she has been in theatre productions in the Midwest. Her favorite leading roles include: Maria in Sound of Music, Lizzie in Baby, Cathy in The Last 5 Years, and Marcy in Dogfight. Her cabaret shows Amy at the Opus: The Story Goes On and Tapestry: The Music of Carole King were both incredibly successful, selling out all shows in advance of their opening. Amy recently made her Chicago debut at Davenport’s Piano Bar, and soon followed with her debut performance at New York’s Metropolitan Room. Amy has performed with the legendary Marilyn Maye as a special guest in her show at Lake Okoboji. The past 2 summers, Amy participated in the prestigious St. Louis Cabaret Conference, where she worked with some of the top artists in the cabaret industry. In August, she had an incredibly successful sold-out run of the Cabaret in the Courtyard series at the beautiful Brucemore Historical Mansion. Amy is currently touring her show Tapestry around the Midwest, and will be taking the show to the Gaslight Cabaret Festival in St. Louis this spring. Amy attended Simpson College, focusing on Vocal Performance, as well as Kirkwood Community College, focusing on Vocal Jazz. She also studied for 3 years with award-winning voice teacher Karla Goettel. Rick Jensen is certainly no stranger to the St. Louis cabaret scene. The multi-talented singer, songwriter, director, and producer served as music director for many local cabaret performers and has starred in several sold-out solo performances in town. Rick's compositions have become standards on the New York City Club circuit, garnering him critical praise and earning him seven Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs MAC Awardsmost recently in 2017, and including "Tonight, New York City: The Rick Jensen Songbook," written, musical directed, and hosted by Rick Jensen, directed by Lina Koutrakos at the Metropolitan Room in New York (2012). “There’s a new genius in the room…Cole Porter, Peter Allen, Tom Lehrer, and Nancy Lamott must be beaming down on their collective progeny.” -- The Advocate on Rick Jensen’s debut CD “Spring Harvest” on which he performs his original material. Lina Koutrakos was awarded by the Manhattan Association of Clubs and Cabarets in 2017 and has previously been recognized - along with Billy Stritch- its BEST ARTIST OF THE YEAR AWARD in 2007. The NY Times says “Her emotional strength is embedded in singing that has a defiant rock edge” and Billboard Magazine declares “This electrifying woman is the real thing!” The Village Voice states “She covers the distance from Cabaret to Rock with the amazing grace of a confident aerialist.” Along with her band, Lina has repeatedly sold out the legendary Bottom Line and sang to standing room only at Manhattans B.B Kings. She was a "regular" at the Iridium Jazz club and is at present at Joe's Pub at the Joseph Papp Public Theater. Her cabaret shows have taken her back and forth to Europe, and seen her singing in most of Manhattan’s premier cabaret clubs (from The Rainbow Room to The Metropolitan Room) as well.
