Contact your Senator about cannabis decrim before 5/11!

House Bill 640 will be voted on by the full senate on May 11th. This is the first time decriminalization has had a chance to actually pass the senate and be signed by the governor. The bill was voted for by nearly 90% of the house of representatives and many senators have already expressed support. The bill isn't the best decrim bill in the world, but it's a good step in the right direction. The proposed amended bill says that for people 18 and over who are caught with less than 3/4ths of an ounce of cannabis or less than five grams of hashish, it will no longer be a misdemeanor, but instead a non-criminal violation with a fine of $100 for the first offense. (Unfortunately the fine goes up with subsequent offenses.) Not sure who your senator is? Use this tool to find out who and get their contact info: http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/house/members/wml.aspx Please take a moment to contact your senator before May 11th and ask how they feel about cannabis decrim. Please encourage them to vote for decrim (HB 640) on May 11th. If they disagree with decrim, be persuasive and kind and ask them to change their mind and tell them why you think NH needs decrim. If they agree with decrim, please thank them and if you want, ask them to go further with the bill by eliminating criminal penalties entirely for possession and raise the amount of cannabis that one can possess. It shouldn't be a crime at all to possess flowers in the live free or die state! You can read the proposed amended bill here: http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/bill_status/billtext.aspx?sy=2017&txtFormat=amend&id=2017-1619S Please post the results of your conversation here for others to see!
