Developments in Hemp Research

Happy May Cannabis Professionals! Let's talk HEMP! Much of the time the spotlight in the Cannabis industry shines on the various applications of THC and the strains of Cannabis that produce this cannabinoid. However, the conversation is shifting to include CBD and both consumable and non-consumable hemp products more and more. This month I am thrilled to be discussing hemp-specific research and welcome our presenter, the Executive Director of the Industrial Hemp Research Foundation, Thomas Dermody. Mr. Dermody serves as the Executive Director of the Industrial Hemp Research Foundation(IHRF), a non-profit based in Colorado focused on facilitating institution of higher education-based research opportunities and general education initiatives applicable to the hemp industry. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Tom lived and worked in Washington, D.C. for several years before relocating to Denver. He considers “the normalization of hemp as a commodity” to be of keen interest and offers his abilities to accelerate this process. "The Industrial Hemp Research Foundation (IHRF) was conceived in 2014 and incorporated in 2015 to serve the re-establishment of Industrial Hemp into the U.S. market and economy, its associated industries, and support necessary R&D by educational and academic institutions. We aim to increase the body of knowledge and raise public awareness of the many known and potential applications of industrial hemp to improve living standards, create jobs, safeguard the environment and enhance the quality of life for all people." https://www.theihrfoundation.com/ Tentative Schedule: 6:30-7:00: Arrival and Networking 7:00- 7:15: Welcome and Announcements 7:15-7:45: Tom's Presentation 7:45-8:00: Q & A 8:00-8:30: Individual Introductions 8:30-9:00: Open Networking This meetup is free and open to the public, so feel free to bring anyone you think might be curious about the Cannabis industry, learn something, or otherwise benefit from this meetup or topic!
