Hemp History Week Events at KCMJ

The 8th Annual Hemp History Week is June 5-11, 2017. Together with grassroots organizers, farmers, producers, and advocates from all walks of life nationwide, KCMJ 93.9 FM Colorado Springs Community Radio will advocate for just federal policy on hemp in the U.S. while raising awareness about the benefits of hemp products. The Hemp History Week events in Colorado Springs will include local and statewide retail promotions, documentary screenings, a hemp-infused catered dinner, farmer outreach, and so much more. Through Hemp History Week, KCMJ will: Celebrate America’s rich history with industrial hemp before it was outlawed and educate the public about the barriers to hemp farming in the United States; Advocate for public policy that address the removal of barriers to hemp farming and let farmers grow the versatile and profitable crop; and Engage consumers by showcasing the range of hemp products available and the nutritional as well as environmental benefits that they provide. All events will take place at the Tim Gill Center for Public Media Monday, June 5th: TBA Wednesday, June 7th, 7-9 PM: Documentary film screening with guest speaker and discussion. $5 suggested donation to help defray refreshments and handouts. Vendor and informational tables for perusal. Saturday, June 10th, 6-8 PM: Documentary film screening and Hemp-infused catered dinner with barbecued beef brisket as main entree. $10 donation.
