The most common insects are thrips, whiteflies, aphids, root aphids, as well as, mites. These pests on Cannabis will be discussed so that growers can identify what is on the foliage, roots or in the buds. For insects and mites, photos of each life stage will be presented with information presented about what to look for throughout the different phases of plant production. In addition, an extensive gallery of photos will highlight the diseases common on Cannabis. Cultural practices will be discussed that can reduce the risk of injury to the plant. Plus the impact that certain environmental conditions can have on each pest will also be presented. An overview of the common biopesticides, which are available to manage these pests, will be presented. In addition there will be a photo gallery of pests that have been reported from Cannabis grown outdoors. He has conducted crop research with Biopesticides since 2005. He has presented seminars on the insects and diseases of Cannabis directly to Cannabis growers in Colorado, as well as, companies that market products to Cannabis. In addition he has presented biopesticide Mode of Action presentations to the same audience. He is a member of the National Alliance of Independent Crop Consultants (NAICC), the Biopesticide Industry Alliance (BPIA) and the American Phytopathological Society. He obtained his PhD in Plant Pathology from Cornell University. He has 13 years of Industry experience conducting research with pesticides and biopesticides, and since 2003, he has been a research scientist for his company; BAAR Scientific LLC. From 1993 to 2002, Dr. Becker was a Research Scientist with BASF and American Cyanamid.
