Learn about the world of growing under the new state law. by Marty Klein ------------------------ "But Can I Swim in It?" A brief introduction to a variety of different ways scientists determine water quality in rivers and streams. We will look at a case study of a stream in Brattleboro, VT and spend some time focusing on what makes waters safe for recreation. Ryan O'Donnell is a classically trained musician turned environmental scientist. He spends his days coordinating two volunteer water quality monitoring programs in Vermont and Massachusetts and his nights singing with several community choruses and teaching guitar lessons. ------------------------ "Marijuana v.2.0" Marijuana is the most studied/bred plant on earth. Today, there are more than 5,000 strains of the plant to choose from. Consumers can select from a dizzying array of tastes, effects, colors, etc. Those choosing to grow can now obtain clones, seeds that will only produce female plants, autoflowering varieties that are 2' tall, bloom based on time rather than the amount of light and yields of several ounces per plant in 3 months. This is not your granddaddy's weed! Easthampton artist/conservation activist/mushroom expert Marty Klein, is one of a handful of people in MA speaking publicly about growing marijuana under the new state law. He has ~40 years experience growing marijuana for personal use. ------------------------ $5 Entry. Guests under 21 years are welcome in the banquet room area, but are restricted from the front bar, so please have your ID on you if you'd like to order alcoholic beverages.
