Legalizing Marijuana: Are We Sure?

Michigan voters may be asked to approve a ballot proposal in November 2018 that would legalize marijuana use for recreational purposes. The decision whether to legalize is a big one, and we want parents and community members to be informed about the potential impact on our youth. Join our special guest, Kevin A. Sabet, PhD, former drug policy adviser to the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations, as he talks about who is behind the legalization movement, dispels common myths about marijuana and shares information about the real impact of legalization on the state of Colorado. Use of marijuana by youth in Colorado has steadily increased since legalization, in contrast to the national average. Although marijuana use among local youth has decreased during the past five years, perception of risk associated with moderate or heavy use is at an all-time low. This, and the fact that legalization would increase youth access to marijuana, concerns us.
