Medical Marijuana Deadline Ignored by City Attorney

On July 3, 2017, the Sarasota City Commissioners asked the City Attorney, Robert Fornier, to have a plan in place regarding where medical marijuana dispensaries could be located in the city of Sarasota. This proposal should have been on the agenda at the Sarasota City Commissioners meeting on September 5th. It was on the agenda but was removed a few days ago because the city attorney wants more time. It is the city attorney that encouraged the city commissioners to ban medical cannabis dispensaries in the city limits. Clearly he has personal motives for not having his plan in place for this meeting. We are asking everybody who can possibly make the 6:00 city commissioners meeting to be at the meeting and address the city commission during the open forum to ask why the city attorney has failed to meet the 60 day deadline that was given to him by the city commissioners. You have up to 3 minutes to address the issue. If you only speak for 30 seconds, no problem. We must be diligent in this cause if we want to have a city that follows the wants and needs of its residents.
