Skyline Road is the northwest ridge above Portland. It's a cyclists playground with miles and miles of rollers and descents & climbs on east and west sides. Today, we'll start in SW Portland at Verde Cocina (restaurant with big parking lot and a Starbucks next door). We will get warmed up right out of the shoot, climbing up Highland Road to Fairview and Skyline. Continuing northward we will enjoy Skyline's forested rollercoaster. Once we cross Cornelius Pass Road, we'll detour down and then up Rock Creek Road. It's a local favorite, trust me. Returning back to Skyline, we'll continue north to the end of the road and turn around at Rocky Point. The challenges do not stop here, as we roll up and down back to SW Portland. Near the end we'll climb Greenleaf (better have some legs left), descend into Washington Park Rose Garden and climb out via Kingston. A climber's delight! This is a 47-mile route with 4,100 feet of elevation gain. It's a doozy and hill-lovers are encouraged to join us. You'll definitely want to eat a good breakfast today! The hungry among us have the option to chow down after the ride at Verde Cocina where RLAG riders receive a 15% discount! RSVP so we know you're coming on the ride AND PLEASE include a comment below if you want to eat afterwards so we can give Verde a headcount to reserve a nice big table.
