Medical Marijuana: Weeding out Fact from Fiction Friday, October 6, 2017 at 6:30pm Free to TSL Members, $5 General Kenneth Weinberg MD practiced as an Emergency Physician for thirty years (including at Columbia Memorial Hospital). For the last five years he has practiced Urgent Care medicine and has certified patients to receive Medical Cannabis Cards. He has seen over 250 patients with diseases across the spectrum of the eligible conditions for medical cannabis, lectured on the benefits of cannabis, met with elected officials, and been featured in publications and on TV. Kenneth will discuss the history of medical cannabis, its vilification in the 1930s and how those stereotypes persist today, how cannabis works, the endocannabinoid system found throughout the body, his patient experiences, and the newest information on how cannabis works to help treat addiction to opioids and how it can help curb the opioid epidemic. Please join us at TSL for a supper of butternut squash lasagna beginning at 6:30pm followed by a talk with Kenneth Weinberg at 7:15pm.
