Visiting Artist Series: Deb Stoner

Deb will be showing a slide show of her fine art photography, and a demonstration of her working process by collaborating with Rose Villa resident and fantastic gardener, Ron Talarico, in the making of a photograph of some of his spectacular, yet ordinary specimens. Deb's work celebrates the hidden beauty in things you walk by each day. Please join us for this unique presentation. ---- Deb Stoner is a fine art photographer with deep roots in craft. Current projects include making large scale color photographs in “Flora”, and black and white compositions in “Channeling Karl Blossfeldt”. Deb’s work in photography involves growing plants, collecting insects, and choreographing the still life image. She holds a MFA in Applied Design from SDSU, BS Geology from UC Davis, and decades long teaching career at Oregon College of Art and Craft. Deb is known for her work in designing and making eyewear from a jeweler’s point of view, for developing new ideas in eyewear for the fashion industry, and for teaching those ideas to students in over fifty workshops at craft centers worldwide. Deb’s dedication to her career as a photographer has been noticed by collectors, critics and jurors: she was a Critical Mass finalist in 2015, a speaker at the SPE NW Regional Conference, had a solo show at the Camerawork Gallery, a current year-long solo exhibit “A Year in the Willamette Valley” at the Portland International Airport, juried purchases for large scale works in the public art collections at University of Oregon and Portland Community College, recipient of RACC grant for participation at the Medium Portfolio Reviews in San Diego, as well as selling work to a growing list of collectors.
