The Colorado Hemp Industries Association respectfully requests your input. As the industrial hemp industry evolves it is important to assess current regulations and protocol to ensure that Colorado producers, processors and other industrial hemp businesses are not being needlessly impaired by well-intentioned state policies. Therefore, the Colorado Hemp Industries Association (COHIA) is in the process of assessing state regulations and protocols that may need to be revised, removed or possibly created. Some examples of this may include revision of the THC testing protocol, changing the timing of the planting and harvest reports and changing the way that industrial hemp between 0.31% and 1% THC is destroyed. If you have thoughts on these or other issues that impact the industrial hemp industry in Colorado send up to three priorities to the COHIA Policy Committee by September 24th by emailing [email protected] Please include a concise description of how you might like to see each issue addressed. COHIA will be hosting a facilitated session open to all producers in Colorado on September 29th at the Broomfield Community Center 280 Spader Way, Broomfield, CO 80020 starting at 2:30 to solidify priorities that will center on input received from email responses to this letter. A special thank you to Rocky Mountain Farmers Union for facilitating this session. After the input meeting the COHIA Policy Committee will meet with the Colorado Department of Agriculture and other relevant agencies and organizations to begin the process of implementing meaningful change to improve the Colorado hemp industry.
