TedMed: A Doctor's Case For Medical Marijuana

Physician David Casarett was tired of hearing hype and half-truths around medical marijuana, so he put on his skeptic's hat and investigated on his own. He comes back with a fascinating report on what we know and what we don't -- and what mainstream medicine could learn from the modern medical marijuana dispensary. Come watch this TED Talk then join in the discussion. TEDMED bridges the translational gap between high science and the general public by creating and sharing stories that inform, inspire, engage, and provoke action across a broad, passionate community inside and outside of health and medicine. TEDMED values inclusiveness, multidisciplinary collaboration, and diversity in its mission to catalyze a healthier world. In his third book, Stoned: A Doctor’s Case for Medical Marijuana, palliative care physician David Casarett takes a first-person investigative journalist’s approach combined with rigorous, evidence-based medicine to make sense of marijuana’s therapeutic potential, including adverse effects. David is a Professor of Medicine at the Duke University School of Medicine and Chief of Palliative Care for the Duke Health System.
