Gov. Mary Fallin finally set the date for a state election regarding physicians' prescribing various Cannabis products for specific health disorders. Current law prevents any licensed physician from incorporating Marijuana products top treat brain disorders, serious mental illness, Cancer treatment side effects, or any other condition. The election date is set for June 26th; the same date that political parties will hold elections of nearly 500 candidates for state & national office. Navy veteran, Cody Barlow of Wagoner, OK; is just one of thousands of Oklahomans who suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The Veterans Hospital is prescribing him about 24 pills per day. Many of them are dangerous, highly addictive, and come with severe side effects. Cody will share his first-hand account of a medical trial he underwent in Colorado. He has struggled to return to his productive life and is hopeful that the Oklahoma voters will help him get the treatment which gives the most promise of hope. His story was featured in KOTV News On 6, and SoonerPolitics.org. We plan to include an experienced physician, a mental health counselor, and another military veteran who helped launch the initiative petition. We hope to have an educational discussion whereby the most up-to-date & informed data can be shared. About 30 states have been letting doctors incorporate cannabis products in patient care; but only 4 states allow unprescribed possession of marijuana.
