We will have a great discussion with the panelists listed below! On the legalization side: Dave Hargitt- Dave was born in Indiana and grew up in a small conservative farming town. He learned the value of a hard days work. Being employed on local farms. He also had an entrepreneurial spirit. And started a lawn mowing and care business at the age of nine. He ran this business in the summer through the fall. Mowing and cleaning yards, land scaping and the like. He did this until he was 17. When David joined the US Army. Dave spent the next 9 years serving at Fort Bragg. Until he left the army to attend Purdue University, West Lafayette, on an army scholarship. He earned Bachelor degrees’ in economics and finance. On completing his undergraduate work and graduating. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. He has attended a myriad of leadership/combat leadership schools through his career. Most notably Dave has attended the Army Combined Services Staff School and College. The JFK Special Warfare Center and School. Where he spent two years attaining special operation, language training, and other field craft. Dave spent the rest of his officer career across a myriad of army special operations units. Dave retired from the Army in 2013 after 25 years and 5 deployments. He is currently also a part of Republicans Against Marijuana Prohibition (RAMP) in North Carolina. Caitlin Grimes- Caitlin is the Global Communications Manager for Students For Liberty, the largest pro-liberty student network in the world. Caitlin has over half a decade of experience working with the pro-liberty movement, having worked with organization's like Young Americans for Liberty, the Institute for Humane Studies, and America's Future Foundation. Originally from Concord, North Carolina, Caitlin received her B.A. in political science from Marshall University and her M.S. in communication from NC State University. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her pup Marvel and camera in hand. She is on the NCF Advocacy Committee. On the prohibition side: Julius Locklear- Julius is the current owner/operator of Locklear Industries, a vending and real estate holding company established in 2007. He is the Eastern North Carolina field director for Mark Harris for congress. He is a former state board member of the National Federation of the Blind of NC and an active member in the Wake County Young Republicans in Raleigh, NC. He describes himself as a political anomaly being a disabled minority who is also a right wing conservative. He states, " I am motivated to help our political system in any way that benefits all Americans. As an open minded proponent of the best possible government, I will entertain ideas contradictory to my beliefs without compromising my foundation." Jonathan is a former criminal investigator in Halifax County, North Carolina. From 2004-2010 he served with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and with the Scotland Neck Police Department from 2010-2012. During his career Jonathan has served on Patrol, in an undercover narcotics role multiple times, and as a Detective Sergeant within the Investigations Division. His most recent position is that of Instructor at James Sprunt Community College in Kenansville, North Carolina. Jonathan is also the founder of the Onslow Chronicle news site in Onslow County, North Carolina which aims to bring all local news to the citizens at no charge. His contribution to this debate over the legalization of marijuana will be based on his experience as a patrol officer, undercover agent, and criminal investigator in Halifax County, N.C.
