Is Illinois Ready for a “Long Strange Trip” with Marijuana?

Legalization of high-potency marijuana will put more drugged drivers on the road, more drugs into the hands of our kids, and more drugs in the workplace. Hear about the disaster in Colorado after 5 years of legalization. Get fired up and learn how we can stop it in Illinois. Jo McGuire serves on the board of directors for the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association and co-chairs the Marijuana Education Committee. She is also a DATIA Certified Professional Collector and Trainer (CPCT) and a Certified Designated Employee Representative Trainer (CDERT) who consults and trains professionals overseeing Safety Sensitive Employees in the compliance of federal DOT guidelines for drug and alcohol screening programs. As an accomplished writer and speaker, Jo has traveled extensively to conduct seminars, trainings, conference workshops and leadership retreats for the public, private and non-profit sector. As an influential writer, Jo’s work has been published in trade journals, magazines and reports detailing best practices for safe and drugfree workplaces. Jo was appointed to serve on the Colorado Governor’s Task Force, convened to recommend a legislative framework for the regulation of marijuana after the passage of Amendment 64. As a part of the Taxation, Banking and Civil Law work group, Jo lent her expertise in the form of recommendations for drug and alcohol testing in the workplace. Jo has also joined efforts with concerned citizens around the state to support SAM (Smart Approaches to Marijuana) a national effort led by Dr. Kevin Sabet that is focused on bringing the proven medical research and scientific data to the forefront of the national effort to legalize marijuana in the U.S. Jo has helped organized the Colorado chapter of SAM and works closely with national health experts to educate state and federal policy makers on the importance of public health, pertaining to drug and alcohol testing practices.
