LC-PGSA: Approaching the Medicinal Uses of Cannabis

Lane County and Trillium Community Health Plan present the last installment of the Lane County Pain Guidance & Safety Alliance Fall 2018 dinner training series. Join us as representatives from various community agencies who provide care for patients with co-occuring pain and addiction issues share their experiences and specialties regarding treatment options for chronic pain and opiate dependence. This panel will be facilitated by Lucy Zammarelli, M.A., CADCIII, Trillium Behavioral Health Program Supervisor and Richard Kincade, MD, Medical Director for the Community Health Centers of Lane County. Featured presentation by: Barry Taylor, DMD, FAGD, FACD, CDE, Assistant Professor in Restorative Dentistry, Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry Objectives: • Explain the pharmacology of cannabis• Analyze the interactions of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) with commonly prescribed medications• Prepare an appropriate dialogue for a patient regularly using cannabis• Identify the chronic health effects of cannabis use• Identify the effects cannabis can have on oral health Dinner will begin at 6 PM with the presentations to follow at 630PM. Cost: $30/ Reduced Cost for Trillium Contracted Provider  Attendees will receive Continuing Education credits: 2.0 CME's About the Lane County Pain Guidance & Safety Alliance Initiative (LC-PGSA): The LC-PGSA is a community collaborative designed to address chronic pain and treatment methods including therapies and appropriate medications. The initiative explores and discusses issues concerning opiate overdoes, safe storage and disposal of opiate medications, alternative treatments, and patient and provider education regarding chronic pain and the use of opiates.
