TeleMental Health: Breaking Geographical Boundaries in Counseling

Using an interactive group format, this workshop provides practical information on delivering services via technology-assisted media, such as but not limited to, a telephone, video, internet, a smartphone, tablet, PC desktop system or other electronic means using appropriate encryption technology for electronic health information (both asynchronous and sychronous).  The complexities of distance counseling will be reviewed and will include the following:   Georgia’s THC Rule 135-11-.01 Advantages & Disadvantages of THC Understanding the Basics and Necessary Skills for THC Technology and Practical Uses Crisis Intervention & THC Hands-on Simulation   This course meets the minimum standards required for the delivery of services by a licensed Professional Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or psychologist using technology-assisted media, in accordance with Georgia Composite Board Rule 135-11-.01 TeleMental Health. This new rule sets the standard of 6 CE hours in telemental health counseling (TMHC) training for clinicians providing telemental health services.
