2019 NDATA Clinical Symposium and Business Meeting

Target Audience The purpose of this Symposium is to review current topics, trends, and techniques in athletic training as well as the promotion of the practice of athletic training. This symposium is designed for athletic trainers and other health care professionals who wish to further their knowledge in the topics listed below. Continuing EducationNDATA is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education (CE) for Certified Athletic Trainers (ATs). This program has the potential of a maximum of 2 hours of evidence-based practice (EBP) and 6.5 hours of Category A CEs. ATs are responsible for claiming only those hours actually spent participating in CE activity. Participants will discuss trends in addiction related deaths. Participants will identify 2 routes of naloxone administration for opioid overdose. Participants will identify risk factors associated with opioid overdose. Participants will explain how to recognize and respond to opioid overdose. Participants will differentiate between anterior and posterior translation in an acute knee ligament injury. Participants will understand the role and implementation of isokinetic testing in rehab progression and return to activity following LE injury or surgery. Participants will understand how functional testing fits into the decision making process or rehab progression and return to sport or unrestricted activity following a LE injury or surgery. Participants will identify specific functional tests to utilize in a clinical setting for rehab progression, return to sport, or as a screening tool to reduce occurrence of LE injuries. Participants will differentiate between THC and CBD. Participants will recognize changes in perceptions and cultural/social norms regarding the use of cannabis among athletes.
